The Best in Rome

Rome is one of the most exciting cities in the world. There is history everywhere you look. But there is also vitality in the arts. Galleries in all parts of Rome showcase the work of contemporary artists. The museums, and there are many, host major exhibitions of international artists, both contemporary and historic. Pick any date on the calendar, and you'll have a choice of at least half a dozen important shows.

The modern Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano, boasts four concert halls, exhibition spaces cafés and restaurants. It is home to the world-class Orchestra e Coro dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, a chamber music series, countless rock, pop, jazz and ethnic music concerts, a dance festival, an international film festival, a science festival, a wine festival... the list goes on. And in the summer, the Cavea becomes an outdoor amphitheater hosting headliners from Bob Dylan to Leonard Cohen to Bjork.

The historic Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is the home of Rome's opera and ballet seasons. And in the summer, the performances move outdoors to the specatcular setting of the ancient Baths of Caracalla.

Rome is a summer festival, with hundreds of outdoor events in six-week period that makes the city a destination not to be missed.
